About Jonathan
Originating from Pittsburgh, PA, Jonathan relocated to Atlanta, GA in 2014 to pursue a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. During graduate school, Jonathan discovered a passion for sexual health and began pursuing ways to turn it into his career. Upon graduating in 2016, Jonathan began working at a community mental health organization in College Park, GA, while pursuing official training in sex therapy. At this agency, Jonathan made strides working within their adult substance abuse treatment program while coordinating the HIV/HCV co-infection education and testing outreach.
After two years, Jonathan transitioned into a full-time therapist role at an intensive-outpatient (IOP) substance abuse treatment center in Kennesaw, GA. It was at this facility that Jonathan was able to merge his love of substance abuse treatment with his passion for sexual health by running IOP groups focused on sexual health and recovery. Within his second year at the center, Jonathan became the Clinical Coordinator for their Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)-based IOP program located in Sandy Springs, GA. It was here that Jonathan learned the value of DBT for the treatment of substance use disorders.
Since starting in private practice in 2017, Jonathan has valued the incorporation of agency work into a private practice setting. Jonathan takes pride in his ability to sit with complex cases and coordinate care within a network of providers. At Authentic Self Counseling & Sex Therapy, Jonathan is committed to helping individuals and their partners overcome relationship, sex, intimacy, and substance abuse concerns. Jonathan’s work utilizes strengths-based approaches rooted in sexual empowerment. In addition, Jonathan utilizes DBT techniques paired with Attachment Theory in his work while drawing from a variety of other therapeutic modalities to best meet his clients’ needs.
